The West Australian Symphonic Wind Ensemble (WASWE) is a community-based concert band and swing band sponsored by the City of Bayswater in Perth, Western Australia. First formed in 1987, and with sponsorship beginning in 1988, the ensemble has been able to purchase musical instruments and equipment, and utilise the Morley Sport and Recreation Centre for rehearsals and concerts. WASWE puts on several concerts each year, as well as performing at community events such as the City of Bayswater’s Citizenship Ceremony on Australia Day and at the Autumn River Festival. Currently under the direction of Ross Brennan, the number of musicians in the Wind Ensemble and the Swing Band continues to increase and includes graduating year 12s, college students, music teachers, and other members of the community.
