WASWE has two performances coming up in March.

Saturday, 13 March, 7:30pm — The WA Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Swing Band will team up with The Urban Cowboy Band for Hot Cross Rock — a fusion of symphonic rhythm and blues at the Maylands Peninsula Golf Course. The concert is sponsored by the City of Bayswater and is free to all.

Sunday, 28 March, approx 10am — WASWE Swing Band will perform at the City of Bayswater’s Autumn River Festival, a family fun day featuring live music, plenty of kids activities, and food, craft and community stalls. Free.

November Concerts

Two concerts are coming up soon! The first is a special seniors event, and the second is our regular holiday season concert. Please check back for more details closer to the time.

Sunday, 1st November 2009, 2:00pm-4:00pm – Seniors Concert, Les Hansman Community Centre, 246 Walter Road, Morley, Western Australia.

Saturday, 28th November 2009, 7:30pm-10:00pm – WA Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Swing Band Concert (wine and cheese night) – Morley Sport and Recreation Centre, Wellington Road, Morley, Western Australia. Tickets $10 full, $6 concession, available at the door.

Swing Band to play at Autumn River Festival, April 5, 2009

The WASWE Swing Band will be performing at the City of Bayswater’s Autumn River Festival on Sunday, April 5, 2009. The festival is free, and is located at Milne Street, Riverside Gardens, Bayswater, Western Australia. There is a day-long schedule of music and dance, and the festival has free activities for kids which typically include a bouncy castle, face painting, roving circus performers, horse and buggy rides and more as well as booths with community information, crafts and food.

The swing band will play from 10-11am. We hope to see you there!

JANUARY

The West Australian Symphonic Wind Ensemble will provide music for the City of Bayswater’s Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

Date: Monday, 26 January, 2009

Time: Approximately 10:00 a.m.

Location: Morley Sport and Recreation Centre, Wellington Road, Morley, Western Australia

Band members please arrive 9:00 a.m. so we can be fully set up by 9:30

FEBRUARY

West Australian Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Swing Band Concert, presented by the City of Bayswater

Date: Friday, 6 February, 2009

Time: 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Location: Maylands Peninsula Public Golf Course, Swanbank Road, Maylands, Western Australia

Attention band members:

There will be rehearsals on the following dates leading up to the performances:

- Monday, 12 January, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

- Monday, 19 January, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

- Sunday, 01 February, 2009, 2.00 – 5.30 p.m. (concert band 2-4 p.m., swing band 4-5:30 p.m.) – note : Sunday rehearsal required prior to concert

- Monday, 02 February, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

Schedule Update for Band Members

Here is a schedule of the dates that we are aware of, so you can lock them in your diary.

We will be rehearsing every Monday with the 1st of December our last concert band rehearsal of 2008.

On the 8th of December we will hold a social windup function (TBA).

There will be a swing band rehearsal on the 15th of December (normal 7:30 time). We will decide from here if and when we have another rehearsal before the Bayswater gig.

Rehearsals will resume next year on the 12th of January. We will have two rehearsals left before the Australia Day citizenship ceremony performance on the 26th of January (a daytime performance for all those diehard Skyshow fans!) The good news about this gig is that at this stage, it looks as though it will be indoors in our normal rehearsal venue, rather than in the heat.

We will have one more rehearsal on the 2nd of February before performing at the community Bayswater gig on Friday 6th February (7:00-9:30).

That gives us 7 rehearsals between now and the February performance, so every rehearsal counts! Please let us know promptly if you are unable to do any of the performances.
