Wishing everyone the very best for the new year!

The new rehearsal and concert schedules are posted.

Some things to note:

First rehearsal back in 2012 is Monday, 16th January, 2012. There is no rehearsal on the following Monday, but there will be one just prior to the Australia Day Ceremony on Wednesday, 25th January.
WASWE will be providing music for the City of Bayswater’s Australian Citizenship Australia Day Ceremony on Thursday 26th January, 10am.
The May concert will be on Friday, 18th May (not Saturday).
There is a Southwest tour being planned for the weekend of 24-26 August.

Hope everyone has had a safe, happy and healthy period of festivities!

WASWE band members — the rehearsal schedule for the remainder of 2011 has been updated. Please check the dates for sectional and swing band rehearsals.

Extra Rehearsals

ONE extra rehearsal has been organised for WASWE on:

WEDNESDAY 11th May @ Morley Rec Centre 7.30pm
(This is in addition to the regular rehearsal on Monday, 9th May.)

Swing Band – not confirmed yet, but please pencil in Thursday 19th in the Green Room @ Morley Rec Centre, 7.30pm.

2011 Concerts

The concert schedule for the West Australian Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Swing Band 2011 season has been posted. The Swing Band will be playing at the City of Bayswater’s Autumn River Festival in April, and there will be full band concerts in May, September and November. Please check back for possible additional dates and changes. The 2011 rehearsal schedule is available here.

2011 Concert Dates

14 Feb Rehearsal for Random Act only

The swing band rehearsal previously scheduled for 14 February will not be going ahead (no wind ensemble rehearsal either). Instead, the rehearsal will be for members of new WASWE swing/blues combo Random Act, in preparation for their upcoming gigs – Feb 19th at the Charles, Feb 25th at the Civic or March 11th at the Railway in Freo.

A full WASWE concert and rehearsal schedule for 2011 will be posted here shortly.

Rehearsals Resume Tomorrow (Monday, 17 January 2010)

Just a reminder that WASWE rehearsals restart this Monday (17th) in preparation for the City of Bayswater Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

Concerts and Rehearsals 2010

WASWE has two performances coming up in March.

Saturday, 13 March, 7:30pm — The WA Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Swing Band will team up with The Urban Cowboy Band for Hot Cross Rock — a fusion of symphonic rhythm and blues at the Maylands Peninsula Golf Course. The concert is sponsored by the City of Bayswater and is free to all.

Sunday, 28 March, approx 10am — WASWE Swing Band will perform at the City of Bayswater’s Autumn River Festival, a family fun day featuring live music, plenty of kids activities, and food, craft and community stalls. Free.

Rehearsal Reminder

The rehearsal on 19 October is SWING BAND only!

Rehearsal on 26 October is for the full wind ensemble.

These are the last rehearsals before the concert at the Les Hansman Community Centre on the 1st of November. See you there!
