ensembles feature a diverse mix of professional, semi-professional and student musicians aged 17 and up.

Profits from all performances go directly to the ensemble fund for the purchase of much needed music, and the upkeep of instruments and equipment. The constitution forbids the remuneration of individual musicians for performances- we do it for the love of music and the organisation.

Vocalist – Katie Holland Packer

Katie’s love of music began with obtaining a recorder aged 3. She joined her first choir aged 7 and began learning the clarinet aged 10. Katie graduated from Perth Modern School on a full music scholarship (clarinet) in 1996. She toured the USA with the National Children’s Wind Orchestra, and attended WAAPA in 1997/98. Katie has played clarinet and alto clarinet in a number of ensembles, and sung with a variety of choirs including I Voci and Swan Harmony. Katie is the vocalist for both the WASWE Swing Band and Random Act.

Random Act

If Swing and Blues are your thing but you don’t have space for a full swing band, why not check out Random Act? Comprised of WASWE members, Random Act brings you a jazzy, bluesy sound in a more compact unit.

Fees are negotiable and will be dependent on the location, time and length of performance required.
